Meredith Axelrod

Meredith Axelrod is multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who envisions the limitless potential of early twentieth century music, whether it be Ragtime, Music Hall, Pop Standard, Boogie Woogie, Tin Pan Alley, String band, Jazz, Country, Blues or even Jug Band music, and embodies the spirit that brought the music into existence and drove it ahead.  Ms. Axelrod learned to sing and play by listening to how folks did it a century ago – through the medium of cylinders, 78-rpm records, and from sheet music.

Red Raven Follies

Vintage Variety

Burlesque has an extensive, ever evolving story that began with women running their own shows. Wit, humor, and politics alike were the spice of the beginning times of the mocking craft. Abandoned by economic disparity, Burlesque inevitably fell into the hands of man, hence the tethering to the revealing nature that is presented today.

As the genre has been reclaimed by women combined with art being largely undervalued...yet ravenously sought, Burlesque has made its mark in these popular times clad in its multi-generational, artisan nature. Unlike other artisanal pursuits, Burlesque performers are genuinely bound by economic necessity to design and create their own original wares and stories in order to bring you the finest of its current craft.

From the herstorical nether regions of many a sassy lass comes an original regurgitation of all things commodified born of small time, handcrafted origins.

The Red Raven Follies present: ARTISANAL BURLESQUE
Emcee Debut by Broadway Revue's Taylor Maiden
Musical guest: Phoebe Blume

"Tommy Alexander's music career is summed up in one word: passion. In the past five years, he's released two full-length LPs, two EPs and founded an artist collective and record label.

He has toured extensively across the US, and eventually settled in Portland, Oregon, where he met Coykendall. Old News is the follow up to Basement Soul, which was released in April 2014. He has also released music as Quiet Lion; Huffington Post called their 2012 effort, Whatever You Say, "authentic...strikingly truthful...downright mind-bending."
